What's In A Name? --- September 29 1993
When friends Lars Anderson, Robert Sundberg and Duncan Parnell first
dreamt of founding a microcomputer development company in 1978, they
knew that the name needed to encapsulate both their passionate
ideals surrounding the technology and their ambitious plans for
where they intended to take it. The trio believed the advent of the
computer age in the long span of humanity’s history to be comparable
to rain falling across a drought-scorched land and bringing with it
new life. With this in mind, Anderson and Sundberg paid tribute to
their upbringings in Linköping, Sweden, by combining two Swedish
words—”regn”, meaning “rain”, and “levnad”, meaning “life”—to create
REGNAD Computing, Inc. To this day, the company continues to operate
under the trio’s founding vision, confident that REGNAD is taking
part in an ongoing effort to bring the perfect storm of
technological advancement for the sake of human prosperity.
